Welcome to Hafren House
Hafren House is a charming Grade II listed town house, rich in history and big on hospitality. The house was built in 1820 and we have attempted to recreate some of the atmosphere this beautiful old house would have exuded in a former life.
Our en-suite bedrooms have a traditional yet contemporary feel; comfortable furnishings and gleaming oak floors are just part of the intimate atmosphere and style of the house. The warmth and glow of the open fires in the sitting room and dining room removes the winter chill, whilst afternoon tea on our terrace takes care of balmy summer days. The house surrounds every guest with its warmth and friendliness.
Located on Salop Road, we are within walking distance of the railway station and town centre. The surrounding countryside is filled with things to do, no matter what the season. Welshpool is home to Powis Castle and The Llanfair Light Railway which weaves its way through the Banwy Valley. Shrewsbury, England’s finest Tudor town, is close to us, with its many distinctive shops and restaurants. Offa’s Dyke is 10 minutes away and about 40 minutes away is the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge, the home of the industrial revolution. We are about an hour’s drive from Snowdonia and the Welsh coast
The house offers three warm cosy guest rooms, further details of which can be found on the Bedrooms page.
For hikers and those of you on two wheels, we have a superb drying room for your outerwear in case you get caught in the rain and we can provide packed lunches for your days out. We also have a secure area where bicycles and motorcycles can be left overnight.
Awaken to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The choice is yours—a hearty breakfast made with the freshest of local ingredients or just our home made morning rolls with some fresh fruit?
This is a special place like no other; a place to remember, a place to come back to. Let Hafren House wrap its welcome arms around you.
